Pale Cocoon ペイル・コクーン

Pale Cocoon is spellbinding and beautiful. The only records of the Earth are stored in fractured computer archives. The characters work in the archive recovery level, but people are feeling less and less enthusiastic to look at the remains of a dead Earth… Very apocalyptic, sci-fi and stunning visuals, depressing look at human emotions. Highly recommended, this is one of those one of visual anime gems I can watch over and over and still love.

  1. I really enjoyed Pale Cocoon – in many ways it reminds me of a short story by Arthur C Clarke, ‘If I Forget Thee, Oh Earth…’. The animation was great overall (if a little clumsy in places, one of several features it shares with the equally excellent Voices of a Distant Star), the music was absolutely beautiful and the story has you guessing right up until the end.

It’s a real achievement for what appears to be the director’s first film so I’m looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.
